An annual awards competition celebrating the best media coverage of refugee and asylum issues has issued a call for entries.
The Refugee Week Scotland Media Awards is being organised by British Red Cross in association with the Scottish Refugee Council, the NUJ, Oxfam Scotland and the UN Refugee Agency.
In a statement, it says: “The Refugee Week Scotland Media Awards highlight positive, accurate and influential reporting about asylum and refugee-related issues.”
The awards categories are Print (national), Print (local), Broadcast Media and Photography.
The winners will be announced on Friday June 24 at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow, as one of the highlights of Refugee Week Scotland, “a festival of events celebrating the contribution of refugees to the UK”.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm Friday May 6.
Refugee Week Scotland 2011 runs between June 20 and 26.
