A WEBSITE dedicated to reporting Edinburgh news has launched today, as part of a Scotland-wide network of local websites.
www.stv.tv/edinburgh is the latest in an initiative being rolled out by STV, and which began in September. STV Local already covers North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray. STV is hoping to have the whole of Scotland covered within the next 18 months.
Says STV: “Over 300 active contributors across Scotland are now engaging with their local sites, posting news stories, reviews, pictures, events listings and other content.”
In a statement issued by STV, Alistair Brown, Head of Digital, is quoted as saying: “Edinburgh is our largest launch area yet, and we’re very excited to be live in Scotland’s capital. The response and level of engagement from local communities so far shows that there is a real appetite for local content, both from our STV Local editorial teams and from community contributors.”
The editor for the Edinburgh site is Shaun Milne, previously consulting managing editor of locally-based news agency, Deadline News.
