Former BBC TV correspondent and Member of Parliament, Martin Bell, is among many media figures who will be featuring at the award-winning Festival of Politics 2010 at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh next month.
The festival, now in its sixth year, will be running from Tuesday August 17 until the following Saturday, with Bell involved in a panel debate, Power of the People, which will also feature singer, Annie Lennox, and comedian, Mark Thomas.
Also on the programme is a debate on the future of Scottish football, to involve 400 fans and to be broadcast live on the Real Radio Football Phone-In.
At the same time, the Scottish Parliament is again hosting the World Press Photo exhibition.
For this 53rd staging of the exhibition throughout its history – and fifth time at the Scottish Parliament – a total of 101,960 photographs were submitted to be judged, with nearly 5900 photographers from 128 countries sending in their work.
The exhibition will travel to almost 100 locations around the world but the Scottish Parliament is once again one of only two locations in the UK – and the only Parliament in the world – to display the winning photos.
