MEDIA folk in Edinburgh are being invited to get together at one of the capital’s pubs, at the start of next month, as part of a ‘virtual media club’.
Being organised by Stewart Argo, a media manager with The City of Edinburgh Council, the invitation is to turn up at the Cask and Barrel pub on the evening of Thursday, April 1.
Says Argo: “I’ve had countless conversations with people where we’ve bemoaned the fact that we spend most of our time communicating on the phone or by email rather than in person. I set up an Edinburgh Comms and Media Group on LinkedIn to see if it could be used to help communications professionals of all kinds to meet more frequently. And now that there are more than 200 members, it’s time to test if it can improve networking.”
He added: “It’s been great to see people joining up and using the site to share news, job opportunities and advice. There’s also a real variety among members, which is exactly what it’s all about.”
The evening gets underway at 6.30pm.
