ALWAYS a great event for auction items and competition prizes, the annual Press Ball – run by the Glasgow and west of Scotland branch of the Journalists’ Charity – has announced further additions to the bidding and raffle roster.
The Ball is taking place on the 13th of next month, in Glasgow, and among the goodies up for grabs is the opportunity to compete in a meeting of the Fife motor racing complex of Knockhill, driving a a Mini Cooper S. Also on the card are return flights to New York, courtesy of Continental, and a long weekend stay on the Isle of Jura, in a five-star lodge, worth £3600, thanks to the local whisky distillery.
The announcement comes hard on the heels of news that BT Scotland is sponsoring live music during the evening, in the form of a local swing band, Waterfront.
Organisers say they still have a few tables available, with tickets priced at £45 per person, which includes a three-course meal and half-bottle of wine per guest. Table bookings at being handled by Margaret Morrison, PA to Donald Martin, editor-in-chief at the Herald and Times Group.
