FILMMAKERS from Dundee’s Abertay University, Edinburgh College of Art, and Glasgow’s RSAMD shared the spoils at an annual student awards ceremony last night hosted by the Scottish branch of the Royal Television Society.
The awards – for work in factual filmmaking, plus also drama and animation – saw Tali Yankelevich from ECA take the factual title – with ‘The Housekeeper’ – and Louis Paxton, Stuart Ewan and Anna Chaney from RSAMD win out in the drama category, with ‘Choreomania’. Meanwhile, Martin McGregor from Abertay won the animation section, with ‘The Fancier’.
Ken MacQuarrie, director of BBC Scotland, presented the awards at the ceremony which was held in the University of Glasgow’s Gilmorehill Centre.
More than 30 filmmakers entered this year’s competition, and the winners now go forward to both the RTS UK Student Awards and the Celtic Media Festival.
