THE managing director of The Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times newspapers is among the speakers lined up for a debate about the future of the media, being staged at the Glasgow book festival, Aye Write!, in March.
Tim Blott is to be joined by Mark Wood, the former chief executive of ITN, and Stewart Purvis, content partner at broadcasting regulators, Ofcom. Sponsored by The Herald, the debate is to be chaired by Ruth Wishart.
The festival, which is in its fifth year, will be including appearances from, among others, Tariq Ali, Joanna Trollope, Michael Mansfield, William Boyd, Susie Orbach, Jasper Fforde, David Dimbleby and Sir Ian Blair. A special preview event on Monday March 1 will see the poet laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, read from some of her more recent work. Other authors taking part include Albie Sachs, the South African jurist and humanitarian, and Germaine Greer, who looks back on 40 years of feminism.
