ONE of Scotland’s best-known news agencies has made what it considers to be a “coup” of a new signing, with the appointment of a senior photographer to further strengthen its picture desk.
Katielee Arrowsmith began work with Deadline Press and Picture Agency on Monday, where she will cover news, features, PR commissions and special projects.
She graduated from the NCTJ Photography course in Sheffield nine years ago, having worked on local newspapers in Cheshire, and then spent two years with News Team International in Birmingham.
Later, she became senior photographer with South West News in Bristol where she spent two years working on news and features, before moving to Los Angeles to join Splash News and Pictures as part of the paparazzi, snapping everyone from Kevin Costner to Paris Hilton.
Before moving to Edinburgh-based Deadline, she worked the Fleet Street circuit as chief photographer with a London-based agency, covering news, features and showbiz for all the major newspaper and magazine titles.
Deadline’s consulting managing editor, Shaun Milne, describes her appointment as a “real coup”.
He said: “Deadline is already widely regarded as the best news and picture agency in the Edinburgh and our signing of Katielee should be seen as a bold statement that the team doesn’t intend to simply rest upon its successes.
“These are hugely exciting times for those few agencies who, like us, are already geared up for those opportunities the multi-media age can provide through proper channelling of images, words and video.
“Katielee’s appointment is a real coup which provides further proof of the ambitions and willingness of Deadline to invest in its staff to deliver first-class results at just the time the industry needs independent content providers to do just that.”
Deadline Press and Picture Agency was established nine years and was among the first in the UK to boast its own website, dedicated video channel and become part of the UK ‘Twitteratti’.
