YESTERDAY, Spike speculated that the identity of the new Scotsman newspaper editor might be about to be announced, Fridays being a seemingly popular day, at owners, Johnston Press, for such things.
But, then, both Scotsman managing director, Michael Johnston, and general manager, Henry Faure Walker, were on holiday – so nothing could be said.
Also, Spike reported the seeming insensitivity of acting editor of Scotland on Sunday, Tom Little, having to announce that it was Les Snowdon – editor of Sunday Times Scotland – and not him that had landed the job on a permanent basis.
There is now a rival view: that Little was insistent he make the announcement himself, as a way of thanking his team for their hard work over the summer.
