THE Scottish division of broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, has appointed a former chair of Moray Firth Radio to head up one of its two committees.
Thomas Prag has been appointed chair of Ofcom Scotland’s advisory committee – the other committee involved with content.
Now chair of an organisation that seeks to develop media outlets in parts of the world lacking sophisticated information sources, Media Support Solutions, Prag was involved in setting up BBC Radio Highland in Inverness in 1976 and then became founding managing director, and latterly chair, of Moray Firth Radio, where he spent nearly 20 years and won several Sony Awards – the highest accolades in UK radio.
He is currently a governor of the UHI Millennium Institute and chair of its Development Trust. He was elected a Fellow of the Radio Academy in 1997.
