THE Scottish political editor at The Scotsman is to leave, after eight years at the paper.
Hamish Macdonell departs in six weeks, coinciding with the end of the Scottish Parliamentary session, after agreeing a voluntary redundancy package. He was previously Scottish political editor at the Daily Mail.
Earlier this month, it was announced The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday newspapers are looking to cut around 25 jobs – ideally through voluntary redundancy – following a merging of their productions into a ‘seven day operation’.
It is understood Macdonell is considering various options regarding his future.
