A COMPETITION to encourage magazine writing and production skills among school pupils in Scotland has secured increased sponsorship.
On the 12th of next month, the winners are to be announced in this year’s Scottish School Magazine Competition, organised by magazines trade body, the Periodical Publishers Association.
And joining the roster of category sponsors is the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
heir backing – which is at least until 2011 – is to highlight Best Editorial Content.
Established in 1965, the GTCS was the first independent regulatory body for teachers in the UK and one of the first teaching councils in the world.
Says Daniel Lambie, editor of its membership magazine, Teaching Scotland: “Becoming a more integral part of the school community is one of the aims of the magazine. Supporting this competition will certainly help us to achieve that and I am sure will help the journalists of the future hone their skills.”
