A COMPETITION for journalism students at Scotland’s universities and colleges has announced its finalists.
Hotly-contested, particularly at university level, with Glasgow Caledonian and Strathclyde Universities featuring strongly, the Write Stuff Scottish Student Journalism Awards ceremony is being held later this month, in Glasgow.
With a good showing also by the University of the West of Scotland and, perhaps most notably, a significantly stronger presence from Stirling University, the Write Stuff awards differ from The Herald newspaper’s Scottish Student Press Awards in that the latter is mainly about university newspapers and its writers.
At college level, Cardonald College’s NCTJ-accredited course weighs in with an impressive showing but Metropolitan College bump up their number of shortlisted entrants, and there is also space for students from Edinburgh’s Telford College and Fife’s Adam Smith College.
