A BBC Scotland-produced edition of the BBC’s current affairs flagship, Panorama, has registered what is believed to have been the highest audience appreciation rating ever for the programme.
Transmitted last week, the programme (recorded over a two-month period) looked at state of home-based care of older people.
Shown on BBC One, the programme was watched by an estimated 3.5 million people across the UK.
A subsequent survey of viewers registered 89 out of a 100 in an ‘audience appreciation index’.
Said an insider: “This is territory only reached by BBC classics like Attenborough.”
