A MARKETING plan by a major Scottish newspaper aims to win readers in ‘Middle England’ by giving away a soft porn video.
Were the reader-vouchers-for-free-DVD campaign to succeed, it would go some way to reversing a trend which has seen ‘tartanised’ editions of London-based titles these last few years establish a strong circulation foothold in Scotland.
The plan is being treated as top secret by executives at the as-yet-unknown title.
But a source has told allmediascotland.com that it could be as early as this weekend when it is unveiled.
Said the source: ”Of course, it’s a poor, silly fad, but you never know: it’s so outrageous, it might just possibly work.”
