HAPPILY, neither reporter nor former Scotland goalkeeper were injured in the making of a report from the national stadium, Hampden Park, yesterday – beamed live on Sky Television.
But then again, following the Scottish football team’s 3-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Holland on Saturday, a cynic might say it was only a Scotland player who kicked a football at Sky’s David Tanner, while he was interviewing Rab Douglas about tomorrow’s upcoming qualifer against Iceland.
Douglas did have to duck, though, from the long-range effort, so there’s hope yet that the Scottish midfield will deliver the killer passes to unpick the Iceland defence.
And that the ball was kicked in the first place might have had something to do with the fact that the interview was also being shown on the huge video screens at either end of the Hampden pitch, thus allowing the ‘guilty party’ the chance to watch himself wreak havoc.
