THE funeral took place yesterday of a former Evening Times journalist.
Rodney Duncan died at the age of 57, following illness, at his home in Tain in Ross-shire.
After starting his career at the Northern Times in Golspie, he moved to the Greenock Telegraph before joining the Evening Times in the early 1970s.
Says an obituary in the Evening Times: “He quickly made his mark as a news reporter, specialising in the city’s exploding entertainment scene, becoming a close personal friend of the late singer, Calum Kennedy, and the Romano family of restaurateurs.
“During his more than 20 years with the paper he was closely associated with the Evening Times Lifeline charity campaign and the Mr Glasgow diary and gossip column.
“Rodney was known for his snappy dress sense, as a regular customer of the late Ralph Slater who founded the famous city clothing store, and often sported what became his trademark trench coat and wide-brimmed hat.”
He left the Evening Times in the early 1990s to return to his family home in Tain to help care for his elderly parents.
