TWO journalists and a photographer, who were ambushed last week by Taliban forces in Afghanistan, are expected to arrive home today.
As they reported for their respective newspapers, the Sunday Herald’s foreign editor, David Pratt, and the Sunday Mail’s Charles Lavery were attacked by Taliban soldiers after the British Army unit they were accompanying uncovered a haul of enemy weapons.
Pratt and Lavery were joined by photographer, Colin Mearns, who, in a narrated photo-essay, said it was “easily the most terrifying experience of [his] life”.
The trio are expected to be arriving at RAF Brize Norton, in Oxfordshire, around noon.
