FOR many Scots, The Sunday Post – which is celebrating its 90th birthday this week – is synonymous with its cartoon characters, Oor Wullie and The Broons, and their famous cry: ‘Jings, crivvens and help ma Boab’.
These characters made their first appearance in the paper on March 8 1936, and their 70th anniversary was celebrated far and wide three years ago.
The tabloid flagship of the newspaper division of the Dundee-based DC Thomson publishing empire marked its birthday with a three-page spread which included congratulatory messages from a host of prominent people, including Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.
