STAFF at The Scotsman newspaper group may have to wait until next month to find out the exact details of a possible pooling of production.
No clear picture emerged yesterday of what, if anything, will happen to the production of the group’s three titles – The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and the Edinburgh Evening News – following a meeting between management and the Scottish Organiser of the National Union of Journalists, Paul Holleran.
Last week, Evening News editor, John McLellan, produced a report on the practicalities of trying to pool production.
Said Holleran: “Management are looking for efficiencies, that much is clear.
“But stress levels in the building are already very high because people are being over-worked. If management believe that efficiencies mean job cuts, then the concern they have shared with me about the stress levels would be contradictory.”
