PHOTOGRAPHERS are being urged to enter their top pictures into the annual Scottish Press Photography Awards.
The last awards – which chose The Scotsman’s Ian Rutherford as ‘Scottish photographer of the year’ and the Sunday Herald as the ‘Newspaper of the year’ – attracted more than 3,000 images.
Entries to this set of awards – which are sponsored by First ScotRail – will be judged by, among others, quadruple Olympic gold medallist: cyclist, Chris Hoy (pictured).
The awards are open to staff, freelance, trainee and student photographers working in Scotland. Categories include ‘Sports photographer of the year’, ‘News picture of the year’ and ‘Magazine and supplement of the year’.
Rutherford’s win was for a record, fourth time.
The awards ceremony is on March 26, in Glasgow, with former picture editor at the Sun, Ken Lennox, the chair of the judging panel.
