A SERIES of radio interviews with people who have suffered mental illness, conducted by a former MSP who herself has been a sufferer, has helped BBC Scotland take two titles at this year’s Mental Health Media Awards.
Tales from the Flip Side, presented by Rosie Kane, took the ‘Factual radio’ prize for BBC Radio Scotland, against stiff competition from BBC World Service and BBC Radio Four.
The awards were presented on Tuesday night and BBC Scotland took its second prize in the ‘Making a difference’ award for Mum and Me, a documentary broadcast on BBC One Scotland about Ethel Bourne’s Alzheimer’s Disease – made by her daughter, documentary filmmaker, Sue Bourne, and grand-daughter, Holly Bourne-Starecka.
