A DOCUMENTARY about playing Santa Claus in a Glasgow department store is among the highlights of BBC Scotland’s Christmas and New Year programme schedule – details of which have been announced today.
The documentary features ‘serial Santa’, Chris Diamond, as he “once again climbs into the red suit, sticks on a white beard and walks into his very own winter wonderland”.
One of the best-loved characters in Scottish comedy returns with a Christmas Special, as Gregor Fisher brings the ‘Govan sage’, Rab C Nesbitt, back to life once more.
But, says BBC Scotland: “Rab appears to have changed – he’s ditched the drink, found religion and even discovered the cooker…”
Reporting Scotland presenter, Jackie Bird, fronts the station’s Hogmanay Live show, from Edinburgh Castle and featuring Sharleen Spiteri, Leon Jackson, Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain.
A 90-minute remake – made entirely on location in Scotland – of John Buchan’s The 39 Steps is also being shown, as is a sports special on the footballing links between Japan and Scotland including former Hibernian and Aberdeen boss, Alex Miller’s stewardship of J-League side, JEF United, and the ‘Nakamura effect’ for Celtic in the Asian market.
