I HAVE spent 45 of my 61 years on this earth living in East Ayrshire; the years between aged two and aged 21 spent in Lugar.
I was back in that much-changed village last week; up-market houses where once stood miners’ rows; the Institute, our all-purpose entertainment centre, now converted to expensive apartments; the green where we played endless games of football now simply a field.
