A LOVE of film and of music is behind a new festival launching this weekend in Glasgow.
Comprising 11 screenings of films that are either about music, or where music features strongly, the Sounds Film Festival also involves music performances, including from Belle & Sebastian’s Stevie Jackson.
Says one of the organisers, Sara Carlsson: “We got the idea to put on the festival as we all love film, and music, and to combine them both on the big screen seemed like a great idea in such a creative city like Glasgow.”
The organisers – Francis Lopez, Sara Carlsson and Andrew Savage – all have backgrounds in the music and film industry in Scotland.
The event lasts between tomorrow and Sunday and is taking place at the University of Glasgow’s Gilmorehill G12 venue.
It opens with the world premiere of a full-length documentary, Ballads of the Book, which involved the cream of Scottish contemporary music and writing talent collaborating to create an album.
The festival closes with a rare screening of Quadrophenia.
