THE hunt is on for new filmmaking talent, courtesy of a short film scheme being launched today in Glasgow and then embarking on a Scotland-wide tour.
Scottish Digital Shorts is looking for new and emerging film directors, screenwriters, and producers, including film school graduates, theatre writers and directors, screenwriters with broadcast credits, and self-taught filmmakers.
Up for grabs is support in seeing short film ideas come to fruition.
In Glasgow today, there’s an explanation how the scheme works. Similar events are then taking place in Edinburgh, on Thursday; Dumfries, on Monday; Inverness, on the third of next month; and Dundee, on the 13th of next month.
A visit is planned for the Western Isles between now and mid-November, with a call for Gaelic language shorts.
Say the organisers: “We’re looking for good ideas that can translate into powerful stories on screen. Through the application process we’ll ask applicants to demonstrate their talent by submitting various materials, including a resume and a showreel of stills or moving image work.
“Scottish Digital Shorts is the country’s key development initiative for new and emerging screenwriters and directors.”
