THE former Scotsman and Daily Record journalist who, five years ago, exposed racism among police recruits in a BBC investigation, returns this evening with a follow-up.
Mark Daly – a Stirling University graduate in film and media, and whose first reporting job was at the Clydebank Post – is behind tonight’s Panorama programme, ‘The Secret Policeman Returns’.
In the original ‘The Secret Policeman’, Daly worked undercover.
This evening, it is being alleged that anyone who speaks out over race is victimised by their own forces.
And in a Panorama survey of members of the Black Police Association, some 72 per cent claim to have experienced racism at work. Meanwhile, 60 per cent of respondents feel their career has been hindered by their race, with 61 per cent saying ‘things have stayed the same or got worse’ since the broadcast of the original Secret Policeman.
The Secret Policeman Returns is being broadcast on BBC One, from 2030pm to 2100.
