A SHORT documentary about a young, Scottish albino woman has been selected for competition at a film festival in the USA, founded by actor, Robert de Niro.
Butterfly, by Yulia Mahr, is to feature at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, founded by de Niro to regenerate the area devastated after 9/11, and now considered a major festival on the international film calendar.
Selection involved being up against 2,000 submissions.
The film was made with the help of a support and funding scheme run by Scottish Documentary Institute: Bridging the Gap .
Bridging the Gap is now in its fifth year.
From the fourth Bridging the Gap, Breadmakers, by Yasmin Fedda, won the ‘Best short Scottish documentary’ award at last year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival.
