SCOTTISH journalism students may no longer need to leave their games consoles to learn one of the basic elements of their craft: shorthand.
allmediascotland.com understands plans are afoot to approach one of the world’s best-known games systems, Nintendo Wii.
The Wii allows people to feel they are, for instance, ‘playing’ tennis in their own room, by swishing their arm at an imaginary ball.
Were this proposal to go ahead, students would be able to swish their hands in the shape of shorthand characters, as they endeavour to reach 100 words per minute.
One the backers of the plans, Alf Porilo, told allmediascotland.com: “It could save students hours having to get out of bed to attend classes.”
