AS issued yesterday lunchtime by allmediascotland.com, as an e-alert, the former diarist at The Scotsman and talk107 radio presenter, Simon Pia, has been appointed media spokesperson for the Scottish Labour Party leader, Wendy Alexander.
He is Alexander’s third media spokesperson in less than six months, following the departures of former Sunday Mail political editor, Brian Lironi, and Matthew Marr.
But Pia has had long experience of the ‘knock-about worlds’ of politics, local government and football.
Alexander has been the subject of the occasional diary story by him.
Last month, he completed almost two years as a co-presenter of the late afternoon/early evening, ‘drivetime’ slot on the Edinburgh-based all-speech radio station, talk107. He and co-host, Heather Dee, were succeeded by Dominik Diamond and Marisa de Andrade.
Some 20 years ago, he was reporting regularly for the Municipal Journal of Scotland, under the editorship of Nick Clayton. On Saturday, he was reporting football’s St Johnstone versus Hamilton Academical for Scotland on Sunday newspaper.
