DAILY Record columnist and agony aunt, Joan Burnie, has a new claim to fame – a band have called themselves after her.
And her newspaper celebrated by splashing a picture of her with The Just Joans all over page seven yesterday – with a story, carrying an exclusive, tag by Rick Fulton.
After meeting the six-piece Lanarkshire band, Joan admitted: “I think they were nuts but I’m hugely flattered. I’ve seen the name but I didn’t think they really existed so it was nice to meet them.
“The music I like is Leonard Cohen so I wasn’t sure what I’d make of their music. But I was happily surprised they weren’t so gloomy as some of my correspondents and listening to them would cheer many of those who write to me.”
