SPIKE hears of a journalist making the short move from the Scottish Sunday Express newsdesk, to become executive news editor of the Scottish Daily Express early in the New Year.
Tom Martin will be taking over from Myra Philp who is departing the Express’s Glasgow office to pursue interests overseas.
Which leaves Scottish Sunday Express editor, Derek Lambie, looking for a replacement for Martin, 31, who began his career as a 16 year-old schoolboy stringer with Britain’s oldest evening provincial, the Shields Gazette.
After a journalism degree at Edinburgh’s Napier University, Martin worked with Johnston Newspapers, Press Team Scotland news agency and Scotland on Sunday.
Lambie’s had no shortage of interest, Spike understands, but wants to take his time to appoint ‘the right person’.
