CLEARLY, not a lot of news takes place in Dumfries and Galloway, or maybe the BBC Scotland website just couldn’t resist the temptation to indulge in a little ‘toilet humour’.
Under the headline, ‘Lavatory attendant cutback panned’ (fnrr, fnrr), the story concerned a local authority decision to axe the attendants’ posts at public loos in Dumfries, Lockerbie and Annan.
Later in the copy, the council is accused of “turning its back” on the communities concerned – which, if you think about it, is never a good idea in a public loo, with or without an attendant there.
