A MOVIE set in Edinburgh has just scooped the top prize at a foreign film festival that celebrates the best of British films.
David Mackenzie’s film, Hallam Foe, has taken the honours at the British Film Festival in Dinard, France.
Hallam Foe opened this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival, two months ago, and Mackenzie – along with producer, Gillian Berrie, of Glasgow-based Sigma Films – were both in Dinard to accept the prize in person. It also took the Best Cinematography prize, for the work of the film’s director of photography, Giles Nuttgens.
Earlier this year, Hallam Foe’s music won a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
The film was released in the UK by Buena Vista International following its screening at Edinburgh. Rights to the film have been sold to Germany, Austria, Scandinavia, Greece, Switzerland and the former Yugoslavia.
