THE free, morning newspaper, The Metro, hits the streets of Dundee for the first time today.
Up ’til now available only in Edinburgh and Glasgow (and the commuter corridor in between), the paper will be distributed at what are described as ‘strategic locations’, such as railway stations, bus depots and hotels.
The Metro is a joint project between Daily Mail publishers, Associated Press, and Daily Record publishers, Trinity Mirror – the former responsible for editorial, the latter for advertising sales, printing and distribution.
Says Mark Hollinshead, managing director, Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail: “The extension into Dundee allows us to continue to tap into an affluent, young, ‘urbanite’ demographic, enhancing our offering to advertisers and deepening our presence in the local markets.”
