BEING in the allmediascotland.com directory of media contacts can lead to some unexpected invitations.
Freelance financial journalist, Francis Shennan, found himself being asked – via the directory – to be a judge at the National Business Awards for Scotland – not once, but twice.
Last Thursday, he was one of a panel of four at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel to hear presentations from five companies short-listed for the Growth Strategy of the Year award. This Wednesday, he will again be on judging duty, this time for the Business of the Year award.
“I have judged awards before: for journalists, innovators and young entrepreneurs, but these were some of the most detailed I have been involved in,” he began.
“There are pages of information in the submissions and a detailed presentation followed by questioning from the panel, and last week’s top contenders were incredibly close. I’m not sure whether I should thank allmediascotland for this or not.”
