IT might not be too late, after all, to enjoy the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, despite tickets having long ago been sold out for this year’s performances.
Thanks to the pin-sharp picture quality of High Definition TV and a large, cinema-sized screen, it will be possible to watch last year’s Tattoo, with a real sense of actually ‘being there’.
For one day only, a fortnight on Monday, it will be possible to re-live the excitement of last year’s Tattoo. Three screenings are taking place at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, on the capital’s High Street.
When shown in Johannesburg, South Africa, an encore was demanded by the audience. An outdoor screening is being planned for Cape Town, and negotiations are underway for screenings in Canada, USA, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia.
Behind the production is TheatreHD Ltd, an Edinburgh-based company whose aim is to bring High Definition TV programmes, and HDTV coverage of major events, to a wide audience, particularly audiences in remote areas who do not have easy access to major cinemas or event venues.
