THE imminent move of the Scottish Sun into Glasgow city centre almost resulted in the paper not coming out at all on Wednesday.
For three hours the day before, between 4.30pm and 7.30pm, the computer networks in the editorial department were down. Meanwhile, the marketing department was being flooded.
It was because of on-going work, de-commissioning the old presses at Kinning Park. The Scottish Sun’s editorial department is headed for Queen Street, in central Glasgow, while there is a new print plant Eurocentral, just off the M8 between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The flooding was because of the sprinkler system being accidentally set off.
P.S. The paper’s cover price goes up to 20p on Monday.
