THE mechanics of putting together stv’s flagship news programme, Scotland Today, are now being revealed in a daily video blog being compiled by the programme’s presenter, John MacKay.
The Real MacKay has been launched on the station’s website and will come from the heart of the Scotland Today newsroom, with producers and reporters being interviewed by John, as they are putting the programme together.
Adds stv: “So, whilst producers and editors thought they could hide away from the cameras in the safety of the newsroom, John’s blog puts them firmly in the spotlight.”
Says John: “The news section of the website has really taken off and we thought it would be a good idea to offer our viewers something different.
“The blog is pretty light-hearted and we have some fun with it, showing viewers a different side of the news team. I have to say though, for a bunch of folk so used to being surrounded by camera equipment, they certainly run when they see me approaching on blog duty.”
