TUESDAY’S Reporting Scotland – BBC Scotland’s main evening news programme – featured a live report from outside the Corporation’s new Glasgow HQ – Pacific Quay.
But, with about 20 minutes before transmission, it is understood there was a mild panic whether the piece would go ahead at all.
It was apparently all to do with the positioning of the satellite truck, being used to beam the pictures, and whether it might block emergency access and exit routes in the area of land between the Beeb and neighbours, the Glasgow Science Centre.
A security guard from the centre was, according to one source, “helpful” in making sure the truck could be properly sited.
There is, apparently, no truth in the rumour that there was a dispute because the truck was on land belonging to the Science Centre, instead of BBC land – which apparently extends only as far as the front steps of its shiny, new premises.
