WHILE the nation basks in a moment of history, waiting on tenterhooks to see what our political future might hold, some parts of the media are thinking about how to purge the past.
Staff at The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday newspapers have been wondering how they might change the name of their building.
While the papers were bought out a couple of years ago, the building on Holyrood Road remains in the hands of the old owners, and therefore is still called Barclay House.
An internal email from the minutes of a staff forum says: “It was suggested that the building might be renamed by stealth.”
The plan, according to the email, is for the word, ‘Barclay’, to be dropped from letterheads and business cards.
Suggestions for what the place might be called instead, if only unofficially, will be no doubt welcome.
