A RADIO presenter has returned to his former employers in Glasgow just a few weeks after leaving them, ostensibly bound for Radio Clyde.
DJ, Dougie Jackson, is back on air as the new host of Smooth Radio’s drivetime show.
He had left his mid-morning show on sister station, Real Radio, just a month ago to “pursue other ventures” – say owners, GMG Radio.
Continues a statement from GMG: “But after accepting a position with another radio station he realised he missed his old pals at GMG Radio, so asked to come back.”
GMG owns three Scottish radio stations – Real Radio, Smooth Radio and Rock Radio – and operates them under the one roof, in Bailleston, to the east of Glasgow.
Jackson replaces Bryce Curdy and is quoted: “It was like leaving my family. I missed the listeners, the atmosphere and being part of a fun team, so I’m glad to be back and I’m relishing the fresh challenge of attracting new listeners to Smooth Radio.”
Smooth Radio launched across Glasgow last month, after having previously been known as Saga 105.2 FM, before it was bought by GMG. It offers a wide mix of music from the last five decades – “from The Carpenters to The Beatles and Abba to Texas”.
