AN unanimous vote of no confidence has been delivered at the managing director of the Herald group of newspapers and its owners.
It follows an announcement last week that the budget for The Herald, the Sunday Herald and Evening Times be slashed by between two and three million pounds, raising fears of dozens of compulsory redundancies.
A mass meeting was held yesterday.
Amid additional fears that The Herald and Sunday Herald are being turned into regional newspapers, not national ones, the 300-strong meeting also voted unanimously that, should there be any compulsory redundancies, it will result in industrial action.
Staff have until Friday – the 13th – to suggest cost-saving ideas. It’s understood the budget cuts will be activated by the end of June.
