THE commercial backers of Scottish football’s League Cup competition has won a prestigious award that seeks to recognise excellence in the sponsorship industry.
Co-operative Insurance (CIS) has won a Hollis Sponsorship Award in recognition of the “innovative activity the brand has developed” to support its CIS Insurance Cup sponsorship.
The win comes hard on the heels of the thrilling 5-1 Cup final between Hibernian FC and Kilmarnock FC, attended by 52,000 fans earlier this month at Hampden Park.
The Hollis Sponsorship Awards, now in their 13th year, reward and recognise the very best work in the UK sponsorship industry, and this year’s awards attracted a record number of entries.
Launched in 1999, the CIS Insurance Cup sponsorship is designed to build brand awareness and cement Co-operative Insurance’s commitment to local communities. The Hollis judges commended the number of new elements added to the sponsorship last year, which were delivered by the Co-operative Insurance in-house team, led by Aileen Walters, sponsorship manager for Co-operative Insurance and its Edinburgh-based integrated communications agency, 1576, which was appointed in May last year.
These included grassroots activity, such as free kits and equipment for junior teams including schools, an experiential trophy tour, coaching masterclasses and a CIS Youth Cup sponsorship.
