THE owners of stv have made yet another high-level appointment, in the wake of a new chief executive taking the helm of the company a fortnight ago.
Anmar Kawash, a former managing director of 4 Ventures – the non-terrestrial arm of Channel 4 – has been group director of Strategy and Planning at SMG.
Announcing the appointment, SMG says: “Anmar has a wealth of experience in media, having been managing director at 4 Ventures; chief operating officer of the technology arm of investment bank, UBS in San Francisco; and, most recently, group chief operating Officer of FBC Group Ltd – an international media and entertainment business specialising in television format creation, production, distribution and strategic communications.”
Added Rob Woodward, SMG’s new chief executive: “I’m thrilled that Anmar has agreed to join us at the start of this very important period for SMG. He’s highly analytical, has a proven track record of turnaround in media companies, is an excellent leader and his skills will complement very well those of the management team already in place.”
Woodward’s appointment was part of wider, major changes at SMG, including the installation of a new chair – Richard Findlay.
