FOR the second year in a row, Herald newspaper writer, Michael Tierney, has been shortlisted in this year’s British Press Awards.
For pieces on AWOL soldiers, migrant workers in Dubai, and about his father – who had a stroke five years ago – Tierney is again up for the Feature Writer of the Year title.
In actual fact, he finds himself shortlisted for the third time in five years. He was a winner of the title four years ago.
He is joined by Scottish freelancer, Jean Rafferty, who has her sights also set on the Feature Writer prize.
The winners will be announced on the 26th of next month.
Of all the newspapers in the running, The Guardian has the most nominations, with 11, one ahead of both The Times and The Sunday Times.
