THE deadline is looming for entries to a competition for relatively new filmmaking talent, and involving Channel 4.
COMING UP, is a joint collaboration between Channel 4 and IWC Media, and is geared at writers, as well as filmmakers, looking to build on an already existing body of work.
It describes itself as “the only talent scheme currently in the UK where emerging filmmakers have the opportunity to make an authored drama with a guaranteed network broadcast.”
It is now in its seventh year. Eight, half-hour films, broadcast on Channel 4, are up for grabs.
In a departure from previous years, writers who have credits on series – such as a long-running soap – can now apply for the scheme. However, they cannot have had themselves an original single, series or serial broadcast on UK television.
The closing date for entries is 1pm on the 22nd of next month.
