THE best work done by Scottish advertising and marketing companies is being compiled as part of a campaign to encourage the Scottish Executive to support the sector win more business.
A database is to be created, comprising the best case studies possible, by the Scottish Marketing Communications Action Group), a newly-launched body representing the collective interests of the marketing communications industry.
Says Mark Gorman, who steers the group: “Never before has the economy relied so heavily on creative thinking in all its manifestations.
“But Scotland has to compete with strong competition from London and internationally. The need for a single voice for the industry is huge and the message must be communicated loud and clear that Scotland can perform effectively on a world stage and, in the process, contribute even more significantly to the prosperity of the nation.”
He added: “To achieve this, it is essential that we gather together a robust portfolio of world-class marketing communications case studies and the SMCAG is now calling for the industry as a whole to nominate its best in class.”
He continued: “It’s time for us to stop the talk and put our money where our mouths are. Collectively, as an industry, we have created a body of world-class work, but gathering it together and collating it in such a way that we can demonstrate this is something that has never been attempted in the past.
“This initiative is the chance for us, as an united industry, to prove what we’ve all known all along but have been unable to articulate compellingly – Scotland punches above its weight and it’s time our potential customers took note of that.”
