REPORTS of the death of a prestigious photo competition may, in the end, prove exaggerated.
While Spike was reporting, last week, that the Picture Editors’ Awards were not being run this year, after 14 years in existence, because of a lack of funding, it seems the news has prompted potential sponsors to come forward.
Say organisers: “Along with the flood of emails from photographers, picture desks and others involved in photographic journalism, all supportive and generous in their praise, we have been approached by a number of leading picture agencies, newspaper groups, and photographic companies, who may be able to offer financial support.”
