ONE of the most prestigious photography competitions has been forced to announce it won’t be running this year.
After 14 years in existence, the Picture Editors’ Awards will not be operating this year, because, say organisers: “Despite our best efforts, it has not been possible to raise sufficient funding.”
They add: “Special thanks are due to the City of London and Fujifilm, unfailing friends since the awards were first planned, and whose sponsorship would have continued into this year. Our website will continue, at least for the time being, to provide an online showcase for photographic journalism.”
It’s not clear what the future holds for the awards next year.
